Japan Intro
Japan
Japan, also known as the Land of the Rising Sun, is an island country in East Asia. The island country is ranked as the eleventh most populous country; The population is around 125 million. Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu, and Okinawa are the five main islands making up Japan.
Japan's capital is Tokyo which is its largest city; Yokohama is its second largest city, followed by Osaka, Nagoya, Sapporo, Fukuoka, Kobe, and Kyoto. The picture above shows Akihabara, located in Tokyo, the center of Japan's Otaku culture. The Japanese culture is known all around the world.
Japan's flag is a white rectangle with a red circle at the center. The flag is officially called Nisshōki, which translates to Flag of Sun, but in Japan, it is known as Hinomaru, which translates to Circle of the Sun. The flag symbolizes the country's nickname, which I previously mentioned as the Land of the Rising Sun.
One last thing to note is that Japan is part of the Ring of Fire, where many volcanic eruptions and earthquakes occur. The volcano in the image above is Mt. Fuji.
